Science Corporation, the neural engineering and brain-computer interface company, today announced the appointment of its Chief Strategy Officer, Darius Shahida, as President, effective immediately. Shahida will continue in his responsibilities leading the company’s work with investors, global commercialization, and partnership efforts and will continue to report to the CEO and co-founder, Max Hodak.

Darius can and will be a force multiplier around these efforts, as we begin to translate years of important scientific and technical work into products that can change health outcomes and powerfully impact the lives of our patients,” said Hodak. “Darius is already helping us build the commercial organization and operating infrastructure required for this next phase.”

Science recently announced the commercial launch in Europe and the United Kingdom of PRIMA, its retinal implant for blindness caused by geographic atrophy in patients with macular degeneration. PRIMA received CE marking in July and is being commercially prescribed and implanted by doctors for the appropriate patient. It is the first BCI approved for form vision restoration anywhere in the world.
